Shorty and i have been talking about a fan system like that one for the past 2 years. trying to find a lightweight economical means to run air, thru a small hose, into mask area, not only for de-fogging purposes, but also, to actually cool off the player's face.
This company would probably make some extra dough if they can develop something economical enough for paintball.
40 hrs. of operation on 2 "D" cells, not bad.

Ok, how much more silly can we get? You know, we in the military trained with our M17 masks in 6 hour blocks. We didn't have any cool air blowing on to us? ?? Some newb is going to think this is really cool and go out and get one.

AND? so what if someone goes and gets one for paintball?
I walked to school 3 miles, one way, in 2 feet fo snow, doesn't mean my kids need to.
I have a little PC fan installed in my mask, to reduce fogging, but, a nice byproduct is a little cooling effect on the face. Which made me think...hmmmm...if one fan is good, maybe 2 would be even goooder!
At the same time Shorty was thinking about ways to keep the fan outta the mask, but pipe the air so it would cool the entire mask interior. A good idea to anyone who has played in 90° with 80% relative humidty, Like here on the east coast for 3 or 4 months out of the year.
Ask EE, BigAl, Carrr, PistolPete or any of the other people with Eyeglasses if something like this would be helpful?? Ask them how silly this idea is?
Those guys play hell trying to keep their Mask Lenses and Eyeglass Lenses from fogging. I'll bet they'd like to have a nice breeze blowing in their mask. I've observed all of them, come off the field, on a hot day, start wiping the mask lenses and eyeglasses, spraying anti-fog, just hoping to keep them somewhat clear, in order to continue play.
Remember at OA, last June, out in that hot sun, trying to hold the road? It was hot as hell.
If someone comes up with an economical fan unit that will do the job, why not let everyone enjoy it?? Life doesn't have to be tough. Our forefathers had out-houses and had to bring water into their houses in buckets, doesn't mean we need to.
The JT Fan unit has been one of the only games in town, and while it's better than nothing, it still has very limited power.
And, if a newbie, or yuppie, wants to buy a $250 fan filtration system to wear for paintball, go ahead, let them. it's no skin off our butts.
If they have about $6 million USD they can buy an old NASA space suit complete with heating and cooling and wear that.
For the police and military, give them every piece of gear that will help them stay alive and kick ass, and keep their lenses clear.
