my fiance's brother is looking for a new riffle to own one day and i am not good with names. I just take what ever is put into my hands as we all well know. ;D he would like a gun with all or most of these features... a tactical gun lightweight or relitivly light weight barrel shroud long barrel 17 inch barrel or longer
he wants said gun to shoot round that will screw someone up...762 by 39 nado rounds or 308's Can you tell he knows what he wants. Any ideas? oh FYI he is going into the airforce as well and will be handling guns soon soooo i figured it would be a good idea to ask the wise old drunkards what kind of gun or guns would be best. THANKS

Mini 14 (223x45) or a Mini 30 (7.62x39) both made by Ruger so they are good guns.We have 3 people that have the Mini 14, Rock, Pistol Peat, and Kornball. I have a Mini 30 and It's great.

I also have a mini-14, great rifle! Short barrels but still accurate out far enough to be worrisom to any target. Mini-14 or Mini-30, both small, light and powerful. Ammo is easy to find and Rugers are very hard to beat, especially for the money..

I'm sorry, I did leave you out Peppr. A mini 30 is what you want if you want a 7.62 with at least a 17" barrel. Ruger mini 30's have at least a 18" barrel. The only thing about the mini 30 is that your gonna pay at least $600 for a good one. That's a good price and the mini 14 will be about the same. They ain't cheap. If he want's to go to a AR-15 format, it's gonna be a hellava lot more but it will shoot the 308 NATO round.
