There is a declared "coffee war" outhere on America's interstates, between Starbucks, Pilot Travel Centers, and McDonalds. Each has its own merit, each its own price but the tactics are funny.
The contenders: Starbucks: good flavor, good color, HIGH priced Pilot: Various blends available, from dark to light, mid priced McDonalds: a good dark roast, better than the past, low priced.
The truckstop usual of "colored" water puts Flying J, TA, Petro, and others out of the running.
Round1, was the "Free" Starbucks regular coffee at any Starbucks vender within sight of a McDonalds. Round 2, Pilot gave free medium any blend to fueling truckers again within sight of any McDonalds. Round 3, McDonald's at various locations gives free large coffee to any CDL holder near any truckstop.
I still prefere a Starbucks now and then, then is Pilot Arabica Dark, finally McDonalds, but I do have my coffee maker on board and make my "mud" as momma calls it so I am neutral in the Coffee Wars.

Look, I just want a cup of freaking coffee. Screw Starbucks number one because they don't call it what it is. I just want a Large coffee. I don't need some fancy fucking named B.S. and personnelly, I like McDonalds.
You know, I get a good cup of coffee from what I call Yellow can coffee that wifee picks up at the Commissary. Once I got the measurement for the taste down, I was good to go. Hell, it even tastes good a day old and cold.

Hmmm a double latte with a shot of expresso and whipped cream. Where does this fit into the whole mess?

Need some Dunkin Doughnuts man! Absolutely. The best bean juice out there. Indeed in my Town there are more Dunkin Donuts than any other fast food place. They have them in about six gas stations and like seven stand alone stores. And not one Starbucks in sight.

I've done that on some "sobering" paintball mornings... Took a spoonful of instant coffee and put it under my tongue. Yummy.

I love coffee. Starbucks is good, I always like being a stick in the mud and go in there and order using the wrong terms(small, medium, large, etc.), and just get regular coffee, black. Half the time they look at you like you have a six arms.
For the home brew on a good morning, I like Millstone's Columbian Supremo with just a little sugar, and a bit of Bailey's Irish Cream. I can drink five of those while reading the newspaper. Nothin' better.
As far as fast food brew goes Dunkin' Donuts & White Castle are my favorites.

I also order small medium and large at Starbucks. Once in a while a fiesty new employee will try to correct me..... i do the same drill each time.... "Please grab one of each cup and set them on the counter." "This one is NOT tall, it is SHORT!! Just like my &%^$# PATIENCE NOW GET ME MY *&%^$ SMALL COFFEE!!!!"
"Oh, and one more thing.... thank you"
The seasoned Starbuckateer workers usually snicker, so do the people in line, though they are in a hurry, but then i gotta make sure the newb doesn't spit in my cup, that's the down side. Always wondered if maybe they have pre-spit-into cups for people like me?
Dunkin Donuts wins for a simple Cup a Joe for which you do not have to donate an organ or testicle for.
But, on a hot summer day you can't beat a Mocha Frappacino.
Did i mention that McDonalds coffee SUCKS butt hairs? It's no wonder they make it boiling hot, burn your tastebuds off to spare them the agony of that murky crap they call coffee.
later, gents.

Just wish I could find a "Turkish" coffee, consistancy of molassas, and a pat of sweet butter only, no cream no sugar. Loved them while in Germany.....you were awake for two days after one demitass of that brew.
I do miss Dunkin Donuts, and they place the damn things where I can not get at them with the semi when I am out east. There was a service plaza on the NJTurnpike, but the bastards were closed when I got in the building, seems 9:30 pm is quiting time for those coffee weinies, Starbucks was 24 hours, but I did not feel like debating with a collage yuppie on the difference between "tall" and large....again.
