My job sucks.
So me and my boss had to make this Yearly Training Brief for the Commanding General yesterday, where? Ft freaking Belvior, VA.
Our briefing time was 1100, had to be there an hour before. No problem. Well, it helps if I set my freaking alarm clock right. Me, Mister "move out on time". So I roll up, shave, no shower, dress and grab a bananna and out the door.
Luckily, the T/P was quite. Made good time. So now I get to enjoy a 3.5 hour car ride to Belvoir. We get there, find the building and go in only to find out that the presentations are running like 30-45 minutes behind. WTF?? Guys, just tell the General what he needs to know and move out. Another unit, like ours, got in there and started with their bleeding heart stories. Threw everything off.
When we go in there, we had 30 minutes, we got it done in 15, and that's with our commander calling in from Nebraska and the Training Officer calling in from PA. So we finish, jump back in the car for the 3.5 hour drive back and I can make my 1+ drive back home. I got in at like 5 pm.
Now usually I wouldn't bitch about this, seeing I made TDY money on top of this. And it's not like I can't spend 6 hours in a car. But I told the people in Training that there was a VTC facility on McGuire Air Force Base, which is like thisclose to Ft. Dix. I could have made the brief in my fuzzy bunny slippers. Save both of us the time and trouble of having to do this. It was just silly.
Then on top of that, we get in the VTC building and another guy from Division training tells us that we should have just called in??!!??!!. Someone PLEASE make up my f*cking mind here?
So today is the easy day. All I have to do is open the vault for weapons turn in from another unit. Check some stuff, then I get to go home. Gotta love the Army........
Out here,
Free Lance
